The Windsor Spitfires have traded away one forward, and waived another.
The Spitfires traded forward Cody Morgan to the Flint Firebirds in exchange for a second round pick in the 2020 OHL draft and a fourth round pick in 2021.
Morgan, 17, was acquired from Kingston exactly one year ago in a deal that sent Gabe Vilardi and Sean Day to the Frontenacs.
“We wish Cody all the best with the Firebirds,” said Windsor GM Warren Rychel. “He's a great kid with a lot of hockey ahead of him. He'll get the chance to play a bigger role in Flint as he continues to develop his game.”
In 65 regular season games with the Spitfires, the former first-round pick, 12th overall in 2017, had eight goals, 15 assists and 13 penalty minutes.
In a separate move, the Spitfires placed overage forward Luke Kutkevicius on CHL waivers.
The 20-year-old played 70 games with the Spitfires over parts of two seasons, scoring 19 goals and adding 19 assists with 10 penalty minutes.
Windsor is currently in 8th place in the Western Conference with 15 wins in 37 games, just three points ahead of Erie for the final playoff spot in the West.
The Spitfires, who have lost three games in a row, will host Sudbury on Thursday at the WFCU Centre at 7:05 p.m.
