The Windsor Spitfires have sent forward Matthew MacDougall to the Erie Otters in exchange for three draft picks.
The Spitfires receive a fourth-round selection in 2022, a fifth-round pick in 2021 and Sault Ste. marie's sixth-round pick in 2021.
MacDougall was acquired from the Barrie Colts in the summer of 2017 and scored 17 goals and had 32 points in 66 games last season.
In 40 games this season, the 18-year-old MacDougall has nine goals, eight assists and 17 points.
Wednesday was the trade deadline for overage players in the OHL, and the Spitfires did not make any moves
General Manager Warren Rychel says he's OK with only having two overagers on the roster.
"We were close last night but it never came to fruition so we'll just go with the two right now. It's OK it's just more opportunity for the kids to play we won't cut into their ice time"
Rychel says did a lot of their player adjustments before Christmas.
"Kinda quiet right now, I think we did our heavy lifting with obviously acquiring <Will> Cuylle in September and trading Mikey <DiPietro> to Ottawa"
But Rychel says even though the OHL overage deadline is passed, but there's still time to trade.
"I'll be on the phone seeing what's out there to improve our club maybe in the future and today, so I'm always open to helping our club get better"
Rychel says the team doesn't have any huge holes to fill, barring injury.
