The Windsor Spitfires remain undefeated in 2019 after a 7-1 rout of the Kitchener Rangers in OHL action at the WFCU Centre Sunday.
Daniel D'Amico's 16th goal of the season opened the floodgates for Windsor mid-way through the first period.
Jean-Luc Foudy swept in from the right left point on a great individual effort to beat Kitchener goaltender Luke Richardson just a minute later to make it 2-0 for the Spitfires. It would be a long afternoon for Richardson as Windsor would pour-it-on from there.
Luke Boka threaded a nifty pass though the crease that Matthew MacDougall buried past Richardson from the slot to kick-off the scoring in the second frame — defenseman Nathan Staios netted his second goal of the year before Boka bookended the period with his fifth goal of the season to make it 5-0 Windsor heading into the second intermission.
Kitchener's Greg Meireles would ruin Kari Piiroinen's shut-out bid on a powerplay goal early in the third period but that would be all the offence the Rangers could muster as Windsor would add two more on its way a 7-1 final.
Overage-forward Chase Campbell scored his first goal as a Spitfire Sunday, Windsor signed the former Kitchener Ranger earlier this week.
The Spitfires are riding a three-game winning-streak and remain in 7th place in the Western Conference with 39-points.
Windsor will look to make it four straight against the Flint Firebirds at WFCU Centre Thursday night — the puck drops at 7:05pm.
Tune into AM800 for all the action.
