A key game of the 2017 Mastercard Memorial Cup Tournament takes place tonight at the WFCU Centre.
The 2-and-0 Windsor Spitfires take on the 2-and-0 Erie Otters in a clash of the best teams in the tournament so far.
The winner gets a bye to the Championship Game, the loser faces the Saint John Sea Dogs in 2 nights.
Centre Gabe Vilardi knows how important this game is: "it's huge for any team, obviously you have 4 days instead of having to play Saint John in 2 nights we're coming into this game it's the biggest game of the year"
Defenceman Sean Days says having Logan Stanley back is making a big difference: "he's right in playing big minutes again, back to probably 25 a night. As a "D" partner I think he allows me to jump up on the rush a little bit more and he creates offence himself so I think he just brings everything"
Head Coach Rocky Thompson says avoiding giveaways will be crucial to staying on top of Erie: "definitely we don't want to allow them any odd man situations and if we can play with the puck and have our possession numbers high it takes away a big part of their game"
Thompson says remaining disciplined and staying out of the penalty box is a key because the Erie powerplay is dangerous.
AM800's coverage of the game tonight starts with the pregame at 6:30 with Steve Bell and Manny Paiva.
