Anyone looking to see a defensive battle between the Windsor Spitfires and the London Knights in OHL action Friday night walked away disappointed after an 8-6 Spitfires loss.
Louka Henault opened the scoring for Windsor at London's Budweiser Gardens, but London scored five times before the Spitfires' Cole Purboo lit the lamp twice in the second period to make it 5-3.
Will Cuylle traded goals with London's Josh Nelson to start the third before Curtis Douglas beat Joseph Raaymakers to make it 6-5.
That would be as close as the Spitfires would get Friday night.
London's Connor McMichael scored to restore a two goal cushion and Daniel D'Amico's 14th brought Windsor back within one, but Knight Paul Cotter added one more with Spitfire goalie Kari Piiroinen watching from the bench to coast to an 8-6 final.
Both teams returned from a ten day layoff for the holidays.
The Spitfires visit Flint Saturday to take on the Firebirds — puck drops at 7pm.
