The Windsor Spitfires picked up their second win in a row with a dominate 5-2 victory over the Sarnia Sting at home Saturday night.
Spitfires head coach Trevor Letowski says his team got out to a lead early and never looked back.
"I thought the energy level was good, especially early. It was part of the game plan, to try to jump them in the first period and kind of win the game early. All in all, it's a big win."
Windsor goalie Michael DiPietro earned his 80th career win stopping 30-shots.
He says playing with a lead makes things easier.
"Definitely when we have the scoring early, the scoring helps build overall team confidence. So it's big for our group and I think it makes everyone feel good in the room knowing we're ahead instead of chasing all the time."
Luke Kutkevicius had a two point night with a goal and an assist for the Spitfires.
Windsor is off until Saturday when it hosts the Guelph Storm.
The AM800 pre-game show gets underway at 6:30pm.
Puck drops at 7:05pm.
