Windsor pulled within one point of seventh place in the OHL's Western Conference after a 7-4 win over the Sting in Sarnia Friday night.
Curtis Douglas put Windsor on the board to open the first period after ripping a wrist shot through traffic and past Sting goaltender Cameron Lamour.
Sarnia fought back with a goal of their own just minutes later but Chris Playfair and Nathan Staios both scored to send Windsor into the dressing room with a 3-1 lead.
Douglas and Playfair stretch the lead to 5-1 in the second period, both scoring their second of the game. Mitch Eliot tried to keep Sarnia within striking distance but Tyler Angle added some more insurance to make it 6-2.
Sarnia's Jacob Perreault netted his 27th of the campaign to cut the lead and half and close the second period at 6-3.
The Sting mounted one more attack in the third, but Colton Incze shut the door to carry the Spitfires to a 7-4 victory.
Incze stopped 33 of the 37 shots he faced for the win. Douglas's four point effort earned him first star of the game honours
Windsor remains three points up on the Erie Otters for the eighth and final playoff spot after they upset the Western Conference leading Knights in London Friday.
The Spitfires will host the Owen Sound Attack at the WFCU Centre Monday — puck drops at 2:05pm.
