The Windsor Spitfires got some redemption at home Saturday night.
After falling to the Firebirds 3-1 in Flint Friday, the Spitfires doubled up the Birds 6-3 at the WFCU Centre.
Head coach Trevor Letowski says the team got out to a slow start, but finished strong with three unanswered goals.
"The first period was a struggle, but we found our game in the second and third. We got better and we did what we had to do. To me, it was a very important game after losing in Flint, to come back and take care of the two points here."
Left winger Mathew MacDougall extended his scoring streak to three games netting a goal while adding an assist for Windsor.
He says the team put the pressure on late.
"Obviously it wasn't our best game, but good teams find a way to win. We've had some bounces where we haven't been getting as many wins in situations like this or we've been playing well and not winning. So it was about time that we finally got a good bounce win."
Centre Luke Kutkevicius had a goal and an assist as well for Windsor in what was his 200th OHL game.
The Spitfires are right back at it Sunday afternoon as they host the London Knights.
The pre-game show gets underway on AM800 at 1:30pm.
Puck drops at 2:05pm.
