The Windsor Spitfires were dominated on home ice by the Saginaw Spirit Wednesday evening.
The Spitfires were facing a roster switch up after numerous trades throughout the week.
Windsor traded away Oliver Peer, Aiden Castle, Jacob Maillet, Roberto Mancini, and goalie Ian Michelone.
In exchange, new to the Spits was goaltender Max Donoso who started in the net for the game. Defenceman Djibril Toure was acquired and played for Windsor. The Spitfires also received forward Pasquale Zito, however he was scratched for the evening.
In the first period, Saginaw was the first team to score for the night just over halfway through the period.
Windsor's Noah Morneau sniped the puck into the net, tying the game up. A shorthanded goal put the Spirit back in the lead.
Another game tying goal by Spitfires' Ryan Abraham, assisted by Valentin Zhugin and Liam Greentree, with just over two minutes left in the period. A goal by Saginaw gave them a 3-2 lead at the end of the first.
In the second, four goals by the Spirit throughout the period gave them a 7-2 lead.
In the third, Saginaw continued to pull away with another goal for the night. Windsor's Anthony Cristoforo scored on a powerplay, assisted by Abraham. The Spirit scored another three goals in the period, hitting double-digits and claiming an 11-3 victory.
The Spitfires will have a couple of days of rest before hosting the Sudbury Wolves on Saturday evening.
