The Windsor Spitfires couldn't weather the Storm in Guelph Friday night, falling 11-4 at the Sleeman Centre.
Guelph got to Windsor goalie Kari Piiroinen early and often on three unanswered goals from, Liam Hawel, Isaac Ratcliffe, and Cedric Ralph. Tyler Angle would finally get the Spitfires on the board in the closing seconds for the first period to head into the dressing room down 4-1.
That would be the last glimpse of hope for Windsor as Guelph scored four more times in the second to make it 8-1 to end the second frame.
Nathan Staios, Curtis Douglas, and rookie Dylan Robinson would tally for the Spitfires in the Third, but the Storm kept on the attack, chasing Piiroinen from the net midway through period.
Ralph had a hat-trick for Guelph in the 11-4 victory.
Windsor remains three points up on the idle Erie Otters for the eighth and final playoff spot in the OHL's Western Conference.
The Spitfires host the Kingston Frontenacs at the WFCU Centre Sunday - puck drops at 2:05pm.
