A second strong performance between the pipes had a different outcome for the Spitfires in Kitchener Friday night.
Just one day after Michael DiPietro lost a goaltending battle 1-0 to the Ottawa 67's at the WFCU Centre rookie Kari Piiroinen shut the door on the Rangers.
First period goals from Curtis Douglas and Cody Morgan would be all Piiroinen would need to notch his third win and first career shutout.
Tyler Angle added an insurance marker midway through the third for a 3-0 win on the road.
Piiroinen made 34 saves on his way to first star of the game honours.
Windsor will try to string together two in a row at the WFCU Centre Saturday against the Sarnia Sting — puck drops at 7:05pm
Tune into AM800 for all the action, the pregame show kicks-off at 6:30pm.
