Multiple sources tell CTV Toronto that thousands of highpaying jobs could be on the chopping block

Thousands of high-paying jobs could be on the chopping block in Oshawa.

Multiple sources tell CTV Toronto General Motors is planning on closing all of its operations in the area.

Sources tell CTV the closure is believed to be part of a global restructuring plan and the official announcement is expected Monday.

There are currently more than 2,500 union positions and around 300 salaried employees in the Oshawa area, according to the report.

It's not clear whether GM's Ingersoll, Markham and St. Catharines operations will be affected or if any suppliers from Windsor-Essex will take a hit after the closure.
