CTV News has confirmed Sophie Grégoire Trudeau has tested positive for COVID-19.
“Following medical recommendations, Sophie Grégoire Trudeau was tested for COVID-19. The test came back positive. Also following medical advice, she will remain in isolation for the time being. She is feeling well, is taking all the recommended precautions and her symptoms remain mild," the prime minister's office said in a statement Thursday night.
The prime minister will continue to work from home, even though he is not showing any symptoms at this time, according to the release.
CTV also reports NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh is self-isolating after falling ill Thursday.
“I have been in contact with a doctor and they do not believe I have symptoms consistent with COVID-19. But their advice is for me to limit contact with the public until I am feeling better,” he tweeted.
On Wednesday, Trudeau announced that the government is putting more than $1 billion into its plan to combat and mitigate the impacts of the virus.
