Ripple effects will continue to be felt in Windsor from the war this week, with many concerned for their friends and family.
Spiritual Leader Hazzan Devorah Fick was a military commander in Iraq, and commented on the violence that has unfolded.
"I saw war first hand. And I want to tell you that I never witnessed, brutality, such as this against civilians," she said.
Fick says what's taken place has been painful.
"I am shocked by the brutality and the atrocities, your hearts are broken because this is heartbreaking."
Rabbi Sholom Galperin, from the Chabad Jewish Centre, was appreciative of the extra security precautions undertaken by local police on Tuesday.
"I want to just thank the Windsor Police Service for showing up. Some that you see, and I know some that you don't see. Serving as a Windsor Police chaplain I know exactly who's here and we appreciate it," he said.
Late Tuesday, Foreign Affairs Minister Melanie Joly said that Ottawa is planning to airlift Canadians out of Tel Aviv in the coming days, as conflict between Israel and Hamas escalates.
