The frigid weather is back after a one day reprieve and it's going to get even colder next week.
A big snowstorm will start of the work week, according to Meteorologist Brad Rousseau of The Weather Network.
Rousseau spoke to AM800's Patty Handysides on The Afternoon News — he says the system will bring snow in from Saskatchewan Monday.
"A broad range because of the fine details of the system aren't exactly that clear yet, but for now it's looking like roughly 10 to 20cm, somewhere in that range for your region," he says."Temperatures will start to creep up a bit through the day Monday, not a spring like day but certainly a more typical winter like day. A little bit of rainfall could sneak in on the southern edge of this event but for now it's looking like mainly snow."
Heading into Tuesday night, Rousseau says the deep freeze will begin.
"Tuesday morning you're going to sitting at temperatures around -9C to -11C. Late Tuesday afternoon into the evening it will be dropping down to -12C to -14C," says Rousseau. "Beyond that, over about the next week and a half to two weeks daytime highs will struggle ... getting above -15C."
According to the Weather Network, the average temperature for January is -4.5C.
The record low was back in 1994 when temperatures dropped to -29C.
