Thunderstorms are in the forecast for tonight across Windsor-Essex.
Warning Preparedness Meteorologist Peter Kimbell says "there is a significant low pressure system coming in from the west which will bring showers and possible thunderstorms this evening. There is a possible threat of severe weather. We're looking at probably at most strong winds this evening.
The U.S. National Weather Service website mentions the possibility of isolated tornadoes. Kimbell says "We're not saying that's not impossible but the threat is pretty small. Certainly we have to recognize that it is February and the lakes, while largely ice free now, are still very cold. So they would have a dampening effect on any convection that develops."
Kimbell expects if we do see any severe weather it will be in the form of a heavy wind gusting up to 70 or 80 km/h.
