A sleeping bag drive in Windsor is entering its final week.
Local resident Kristina Loiacono started the drive earlier this month and has already collected about 100 sleeping bags for those in need.
She says the drive was started after she heard AM800's story about people sleeping in their cars.
"It's hard to turn your eye the other way when we have so many people that need help," says Loiacono. "So I just wanted to pay it forward. I thought I can collect maybe a dozen just with some family and friends but now I think I've exceeded over 100."
Loiacono feels it's important to help local residents in need.
"I want to do this every, possibly not sleeping bags next year, maybe something else but I think we have to pay it forward and do our part in our city because these people need help," says Loiacono. "They are Windsorites, we are Windsorites, we need to take care of each other."
She says she wants to pay it forward.
"If somebody needs 20, I'll give them 20," says Loiacono. "If somebody needs 50, I'll give them 50. Where ever we can give them to our community who need them, who are sleeping on the streets, sleeping under bridges, under cars etc, I want to donate as much as we can to our community."
Loiacono is also collecting blankets and says she has been in contact with local organizations and plans to hand out the sleeping bags during the first week of November.
Loiacono says if you would like to donate, connect her through her Facebook page.
