Plans are moving forward on a $50-million condo complex in south Windsor.
The city's planning committee is recommending the proposed zoning amendments to council, to allow for a six-storey, mixed use commercial/multi-unit development.
Planning Consultant Jackie Lassaline says the proposed plan includes three buildings. One with mixed use commercial on the main floor, residential above it, two flanking buildings with residential units in both buildings."
The plan is for 261 residential units along with parking, both above and underground, as well as extensive landscaping.
Lassaline says visually, the property will be very appealing. "Underground parking is being provided as well to support that hiding of the parking so we don't have massive amounts of parking on the property," says Lassaline. "The entrance has been moved away from Ducharme and is at the back of the property."

Carmin Serbinescu's property on Rockport St. backs onto the proposed development and is frustrated because houses on her street all have to be the same level for privacy reasons. "Now, you guys come in with a big six-storey building that is facing our backyard which is really hard to take," says Serbinescu.
The development by Maple Grove Homes is planned for 4785 Walker Rd. between Provincial Rd. and the 401.
Council will vote on the committee's recommendation at a future meeting.
