The West Nile Virus is springing up in Windsor-Essex.
Six mosquito pools have tested positive for it by the Windsor Essex County Health Unit in routine monitoring.
Since the beginning of this season, it's the highest number of positive pools in one week.
Certain types of mosquitoes spread West Nile, which is a potential serious infection to humans.
There have been no human cases of the virus confirmed in Windsor-Essex yet this year but the health unit says the increased number of positive mosquito pools is an indicator that the virus is very active in the community.
Windsor-Essex County residents should continue to protect themselves against mosquitoes and eliminate any standing water.
