Maestro Robert Franz has been leading the Windsor Symphony Orchestra for six-years and the musical director will be staying on for six more.
The announcement was made Thursday as the WSO provided details for the upcoming.
'Music Beyond Borders' will provide an eclectic mix of classics such as Madame Butterfly, Brahms and Mozart.
Franz says he's 'beyond thrilled' to lead the orchestra into the next decade and to continue its operatic series.
"We've been doing this now for the last six-years since I arrived, we've performed Carmen and Les Bolin and The Marriage of Figaro, so this is next in line," he says.
Franz says the fan favourite Pops Series will get amateur performers involved as part of 'Windsor-Essex has Talent.'
"This April artists of all types throughout Windsor and Essex, who are not professionals in their area, can audition to compete," he says. "It could be singers of dancers for sure, but it could also be other kinds of acts like a magician or a fire eater or who knows what?"
The series will also include 'A Night at the Oscars' in collaboration with the Windsor International Film Festival.
"Next October we're going to be celebrating the 15th anniversary of the Windsor International Film Festival with our friends at WIFF," he says. "We're going to be performing music from films that were shown at WIFF."
