Ontario's Special Investigations Unit is giving the 'all clear' after an investigation into an incident in Leamington.
The SIU was looking into an interaction between OPP and a 59-year-old Leamington man in August 2017.
The case was reported to SIU on February 22.
Police report on August 2, 2017 at about 1pm, OPP officers and a social worker attended a man's home to apprehend him in relation to the Mental Health Act. However, the man wouldn't let officers into his home.
Police report after about an hour of trying to negotiate, the man was apprehended and sent to hospital.
Director of the Special Investigations Unit, Tony Loparco, says the man did not suffer unduly at the hands of police.
“The medical evidence establishes that the man did not suffer a serious injury. Accordingly, I have terminated the investigation into this incident,” says Loparco.
The SIU is an arm’s length agency that investigates reports involving police where there has been death, serious injury or allegations of sexual assault.
