A Windsor woman got caught red handed by LaSalle police.
On Monday, officers were called to a retail store at Windsor Crossings Premium Outlets around 3 p.m. for a reported shoplifter.
According to police, the suspect was described as a woman wearing a pink Hijab and carrying a baby seat covered with a blanket.
A plain clothed detective responded to the area and parked his vehicle outside of the store waiting for the suspect to exit.
Police say the suspect left the store and walked directly to the detective's unmarked cruiser and tried to get into the back seat, mistaking it for the vehicle that was suppose to pick her up.
The detective identified himself as a officer with LaSalle police and arrested her for the theft and possession of stolen property.
A 35-year-old woman from Windsor is is facing two criminal charges.
She will appear in a Windsor court in November.
LaSalle police also say this was not the first time officers have dealt with a woman shoplifter using a similar disguise.
Police say the disguise was not a Hijab but a pink and white polka-dot pillow case and the empty baby seat was used to hid the stolen merchandise.
