Tense moments for residents of an Essex neighbourhood.
Provincial police issued a shelter-in-place advisory in the area of Patrick Crescent around 7:30 p.m. Thursday.
Police responded to a report of a barricaded person at a home on Patrick Crescent and contained the area with support from the OPP West Region Tactics and Rescue Unit, Emergency Response Team members, crisis negotiators, the Repeat Offender Parole Enforcement Squad and the Canine Unit.
A 62-year-old Windsor resident was taken into custody after several hours. Police say the suspect suffered minor injuries.
The shelter-in-place advisory was lifted more than three hours later after officers determined there was no further threat to public safety and no other suspects were being sought.
Roads in the area reopened shortly afterward.
Essex County OPP thanked residents for their patience and cooperation during the incident.
