The PJHL's Stobbs Division playoffs opened last night, with the Wheatley Sharks trimming the 73's 2-1 in overtime in Essex.
Drew Denomey was the hero, as he scored an unassisted goal 12:36 into the second overtime period to win it for the Sharks.
Braedon Caetano scored in the first period to give Wheatley the 1-0 lead, while Josh Pope-Ferguson had the only Essex goal in the second.
Kyle Metson made 34 saves to earn the win, while Connor Meyerink made 40 saves in the loss for the 73's.
The second game of the series is set for Wednesday night back in Wheatley.
Also, on Tuesday night, Lakeshore started the post-season with a 5-1 win over Blenheim.
Other games on Wednesday include, Amherstburg opening at home against Petrolia and the Dresden starting their series against the Flags in Mooretown.
