A CBSA officer is facing sexual assault-related charges after an investigation by Essex County OPP.
Police started the inquiry on July 9 after getting a report of sexual assault.
On July 10, OPP arrested a 46-year-old man and charged him with sexual assault on a person under 16 years of age and sexual interference.
Border officials confirmed to CTV News the individual is an employee of the Canada Border Services Agency.
“CBSA employees are expected to respect and uphold the law at all times. We are fully cooperating with the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP),” said the CBSA.
OPP want the public to know that victims of sexual assault are not alone.
If you, or someone you know, needs support, there are local resources available.
