Yankees win opening game of daynight doubleheader Monday at Comerica Park

Luis Severino struck out 10 over eight innings to win his seventh straight decision, Austin Romine hit a three-run homer and the New York Yankees beat the Detroit Tigers 7-4 to extend their winning streak to five.

Gleyber Torres and Greg Bird also homered for the Yankees, who improved to 38-and-17 -- tops in the big leagues.

Drew VerHagen took the loss for the Tigers, who face New York again Monday night at Comerica Park as part of a day-night doubleheader.
