Officers with the Canada Border Services Agency have seized several firearms at the Ambassador Bridge.
The CBSA reports officers seized two firearms, three over-capacity magazines and a prohibited knife from a traveller at the crossing between Windsor and Detroit.
One of the weapons was a shotgun while the other was a pistol.
The CBSA says a penalty was issued and the traveller was redirected to the U.S.
Travellers are reminded to declare all firearms at the border.
To import firearms into Canada you must have a valid purpose which includes hunting during hunting season or for repair.
Visitors to Canada cannot, under any circumstances, import prohibited firearms, prohibited devices or prohibited weapons.
