Designed to bridge the gap between an educator and parent, the Greater Essex Elementary Teachers Federation of Ontario held an information session on Wednesday.
Parents and teachers gathered at the Ciociaro Club so parents can voice their opinions on issues that matter to them.
Union President Adelina Cecchin says class sizes, school safety and standardized testing are a few topics that concern parents.
Parent Tina Etzl says special education is a big concern for her.
She has five children attending a public school with three of them having special needs who need extra help.
"You shouldn't have to push so hard," says Etzl. "When the kids have failing grades in classes and a parent wants an assessment done or some help, the board should be able to respond much faster."
She understands the schools don't create the procedures to get a child assessed for special needs.
