Several firefighters experienced heat-related injuries after battling a house fire in Amherstburg Thursday afternoon.
Amherstburg fire officials say crews responded to the blaze around 2:30 p.m. in the 100 block of McBride Avenue.
Upon arrival, firefighters were met with heavy smoke coming from a two-storey home and quickly initiated an aggressive fire attack.
Crews were not only battling significant fire conditions but also faced extremely warm temperatures.
The home sustained heavy structural damage, and a family of four has been displaced.
Several firefighters experienced heat-related injuries while operating at the scene, and one firefighter sustained a minor injury.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation, and a damage estimate is unknown at this time.
