The crown and defence are far apart when it comes to the sentence for a Windsor great grandfather found guilty of assaulting two women.
After a trial earlier this year, Kenneth Sparks, 61, was found guilty of aggravated assault and assault with a weapon after he stabbed a woman and hit another woman on the head with a pipe while they were drinking at an apartment on Ottawa St. in March 2015.
Sparks denied hurting the women and claims he was trying to break up a fight.
The woman who was stabbed fled the apartment and ended up in a bathtub bleeding.
Both sides entered their sentencing submissions on Thursday.
The crown is seeking a prison term of five years while the defence entered a range of nine months to two years less a day minus credit for time served under strict bail conditions.
Justice Thomas Carey will sentence Sparks at a future date
