A sentencing hearing has been delayed for a Kitchener truck driver found guilty of smuggling a large amount of cocaine into Canada using the Ambassador Bridge.
Drago Knezevic, 57, was found guilty of importing $3.9-million worth of cocaine across the border.
A sentencing hearing was scheduled to take place this Dec 31 but court heard Knezevic has been in hospital since Christmas Eve.
Defence lawyer Ken Marley tells AM800 News, his client has a history of "heart-related difficulties."
In June 2011 after being referred to secondary inspection, Canada border officers found two suitcases in the trailer of his truck containing 39 brick of cocaine.
Knezevic was shipping a load of raspberries from California to Etobicoke and denied knowing about the drugs.
He is currently not in custody while he awaits his sentence — he is facing a prison term.
This was Knezevic's second trial. He was found not guilty during his first trial, but the crown appealed.
