A Windsor man who tried to kill a mother and her two daughters by setting their house on fire has had his sentencing delayed.
44-year-old Ken Kormendy was scheduled to be sentenced March 16th but Kormendy's lawyer Evan Weber appeared in court Wednesday asking to be removed as counsel.
Weber tells AM800 news that "irreconcilable differences arose" between him and his client.
"All of our communications are protected by the solicitor-client privilege, including those regarding the termination of our relationship, so I cannot divulge the nature of the differences," says Weber.
As a result, Helen Burgess is now acting as Kormendy's agent.
Following a trial in November 2016, Kormendy was found guilty of three counts of attempted murder in a house fire on Balfour Boulevard which badly burned a 7-year-old girl in October 2015.
Burgess says the change in counsel will push things back.
"That date of March 16th has now been vacated. The matter is now back up on April 7th in assignment court to schedule a new date," says Burgess.
Burgess expects to be retained as official counsel at some point but that has not been confirmed.
7-year-old Isabel Rueda suffered burns to 15% of her body including severe scarring on her face.
Kormendy has been in custody since his arrest in October 2015.
