A section of Seminole St. in east Windsor could soon be getting bike lanes.
On Wednesday, the city's Transportation Standing Committee voted in favour of bike lanes on Seminole between Walker Rd. and Pillette Rd.
Executive Director of Operations, Dwayne Dawson says there will be some parking spot adjustments on the roadway. "We're going to be doing some parking modifications. It will be a single lane of traffic in each direction and we'll be maintaining most of the turning lane capabilities, with a single bike lane down each side."
Dawson calls the section an important east-west link. "It provides a connectivity from Pillette all the way across to Walker Rd. Then hopefully in the near future somewhere from down Walker Rd. and into the surrounding community into the west."
There are currently 161 parking spaces along the project route and the plan is to eliminate 62.
The cost of the project is just under $97,000.
The matter still has to go to city council for final approval.
