Chatham-Kent Police have seized a semi-automatic rifle during a routine traffic stop.
Tuesday night, police stopped a man known to be banned from driving due to unpaid fines.
In the backseat of the truck, in plain view, was a gun case. Inside the case, was a loaded Ruger 10/22 .22 calibre rifle.
Through an investigation, police identified the rifle as stolen.
The man was also prohibited from possessing any firearms or weapons.
The 31-year-old Chatham man has been charged with driving while under suspension, being in possession of property obtained by a crime under $5000 along with several weapon related offences.
