The Chair of the Windsor and District Labour Council Day of Mourning Committee says more needs to be done to prevent workplace fatalities.
Tracie Edwards calls the death of a worker on the job yesterday "heartbreaking".
It comes as a 51-year-old Windsor man died after he was struck by a large steel beam reportedly weighing about 1200 pounds at R.J Cyr Company in Tecumseh Wednesday afternoon.
Earlier this month, 44-year-old Rob Morneau died when he tripped and fell through a skylight while working at Ventra Plastics in Windsor.
Edwards says in most cases, these accidents are preventable.
"The Ministry of Labour hopefully will be able to do more proactive enforcement in the future so this doesn't happen to another family or workplace."
She says so far, there have been six fatal industrial accidents including farm accidents in the Windsor-Essex region since April.
The committee marks the day of mourning every year with a ceremony April 28th.
