The Associate Dean of the local campus of the Schulich School of Medicine and Dentistry is moving on.
Jerry Cooper has been with the school since 2011 and says its profile and reputation has grown in a big way since he arrived.
Cooper says, locally, doctor shortages have become a thing of the past. "We see physicians advertising that they're open to having new patients. They're advertising in the media. So I think those are wonderful outcomes. I don't think that would have been the case had we not had the campus here in Windsor."
Cooper says the community appreciates what is going on as well. "We're hearing wonderful stories that they are feeling invigorated. They feel a new sense of confidence and optimism and many of them trace that back to having a medical campus here. Previously, people in the community felt forgotten."
Cooper says he's been told the school is currently looking for his replacement and an announcement is expected to be made in the near future.
