Parents of students at Roseville Public School are being informed of an 'incident' involving a student at the east Windsor school.
As AM800 News first reported earlier this morning, a student returning to the school after lunch yesterday was approached by a man, described as being in his 20's with tattoos on his arms. The student walked right to the school and reported it to the principal, who then contacted Windsor police. The school has informed parents of what happened and has been speaking to students about what to do in that type of situation.
Windsor police have identified who they believe the person is, although they say he is not a suspect.
Principal Eileen Topliffe says the student had a very 'unsettled feeling' about the encounter.
"She actually did the absolute right thing," says Topliffe. "She walked away, she went right in and reported it to me and I, in turn, reported it to Windsor police. We all are the eyes and ears of our community. We have a great community here, it's fantastic. We take of things in our community and we want to make sure it's as safe as possible."
Topliffe says this situation is a great opportunity for parents to talk to their kids about 'stranger danger'. She also plans to send an information package home with students to give parents some advice and guidance on conversations they should be having with their kids around 'stranger danger' and what to do in these types of situations.
This letter was also sent home to parents with students at nearby W.J. Langlois Catholic School, informing them of the situation.
