If your child's school has positive case of COVID-19, at the very least, you can expect to find that information on the school board's website.
According to Winsor-Essex Medical Officer of Health Dr. Wajid Ahmed, the expectation is that if there is a case and the risk is determined to be of concern, then it will be clearly communitcated.
"We want to make sure that the communication is happening witht he right intent and if we are sending too many alerts it would probably lost its value," he says. "So whent here is a risk we will make sure it is communicated."
Dr. Ahmed says if a risk is identified in a specific cohort, parents shouldn't worry because those at risk will be notified accordingly.
Ontario released new guidance to parents and educators on Wednesday to help prevent and manage COVID-19 outbreaks in schools.
Among the recommendations, the province says parents must screen children daily and they should not attend class if they have any symptoms of the virus.
