A Sandwich graduate has collected a second local sports award in less than a week.
18-year-old Alessandra Pontoni has won the Repko Cup for large schools after being named the top female athlete from a large school with the Royal Arcanum Award.
Pontoni says she plays multiple sports while being a peer mentor, helping with younger kids athletics and holding up a 93 per cent grade average.
"There's a lot, my main sport would have to be soccer. I've played it competitively for many years, I started when I was 3-years-old. But of course I love basketball, volleyball. I love to run, I think it's a really good stress reliever from school."

18-year-old Chloe Clement from Brennan is the small school Repko Cup winner. She's maintained a 95 per cent average and has been named MVP for basketball and volleyball.
"I guess one of my favourite things was in Grade 9 I was able to start the Social Justice Club at my school so I was able to run that every year. And I've also gone on two mission trips, which were definitely great experiences."
Paul Mikhail from Assumption is the Hadre Cup winner for small schools. The 18-year-old has played numerous sports collecting several individual honours, and has volunteered at a dozen different events.
"I've done a few school related community service events such as our can drive. I've done a few tech summits for other kids in Grade nine and I've just helped out around the school here and there for different groups and activities."
18-year-old Thomas Byrne of St. Anne's wins the Hadre Cup for large schools. A multiple sport athlete and is the Golf Team Champion while winning two individual awards and maintaining a 91 per cent average and putting in more than 100 hours of community service.
Each of the winners gets $375 toward their post secondary education.
