Transitional aged youth, psychiatry and chronic homelessness and housing all discussed
Two new psychiatrists are coming to Windsor-Essex.
The announcement was made Wednesday morning at a Mental Health Roundtable Discussion at Hotel-Dieu Grace Healthcare.
The discussion attracted dozens of community leaders along with representatives from mental health services.
Claudia den Boer is the CEO of the Canadian Mental Health Association, Windsor-Essex County Branch.
She says the parties have done a lot of work over the last year to identify service improvements between organizations and those experiencing from mental health and addictions.
den Boer says their focus deals with three areas, transitional aged youth, psychiatry and chronic homelessness and housing.
"It's going to be a long term process of working together and co-ordinating the system to create something that is much more seamless and accessible and timing services provided to the residents of our Windsor-Essex community," says den Boer.
den Boer says the two psychiatrists will start later this summer.
She says one is from the area and the other is from out of town.
