A well-known figure in the gymnastics world has passed away. Paul Rose, the founder of Rose City Gymnastics has died at the age of 80.
Club Presdient Diana Giorgi says, over the years, thousands of children have passed through the program that Rose started in 1970. "He'd come visit the kids and, in the later years, he was a big part of OFSAA gymnastics. He would always go in and help coach the girls and be apart of it and cheer them on. He was just a good supporter. All the girls respected him and thought highly of him."
Rose won a gold medal at the Pan-AM games in 1956 and was inducted into the Windsor-Essex Sports Hall of Fame in 2000.
He leaves behind his wife of 57 years, four children and grandchildren. He'll be laid to rest on Saturday.
