Rockin' at the River founder Punit Mathur is looking to double his efforts the second time around.
It's the second annual charity 5km walk to raise money for local charities.
Prizes for fastest male and female runners, highest fund raiser and best costume have been added this year, as well as a 5km run.
Mathur told AM800 News the event will be put on as part of this year's Fork and Cork Festival on Sunday morning at Riverfront Festival Plaza.
He came up with the idea to raise money for those recovering from injury after going through the process himself.
"I had a major spine injury and had a major surgery. In my recovery, as I started gaining strength, I started setting myself some goals. One of my first goals was to walk 5km," says Mathur. "At that point I started asking myself, can I actually do something with this? Can I actually raise some money for some charities?"
Luckily, Mathur had everything he needed when he was trying to literally get back on his feet, but it led him to wonder how many people out there don't have the support he received.
"From my injury I realized that I had a lot of support, financially, physically, mentally, and it got me to realize there's a lot of people out there that may not have the same support I had," he says.
Last year Mathur says he raised $11,000 for Easter Seals, this year he wants to try and double that in support of the Windsor Essex United Way's Summer Lunch Program, After-School Program, Mental Health Services Program, and its recovery programs.
"We raised over $11,000 and my goal is a little bit higher this year, I'm shooting for about $20,000," says Mathur. "We've added a run into as well this year and a lot of what happens to us, especially with my injury, you need a lot of support."
Registration begins at 11:30am Sunday and walkers, or runners, take off at 1:15pm.
