Road closures are on the way as Lakeshore looks to improve its infrastructure.
West River St. at Notre Dame St. and West Belle River Rd. at Notre Dame St. will see an eight week closure beginning July 16.
Director of Engineering and Infrastructure Nelson Cavacas tells AM800 News traffic will resume over the bridge during this first phase.
"At the completion of some road improvements with the roundabout at that intersection, right at the Belle River Bridge," he says.
He says traffic won't come to a complete stop right away.
"We'll be trying to maintain traffic in the initial stages east to west over the bridge. Large truck traffic, we're going to try and put advanced notice to try and keep that through traffic on County Road 42."
Cavacas says the intersection of I.C. Roy Road at County Road 22 will also be closed for around four weeks beginning July 16 - County Road 22 will remain open during that phase of construction.
"It's only going to affect turning movement from County Road 22 on to I.C. Roy Road. However, traffic moving along County Road 22 in an east to west direction will be able to get through, but they will not be able to make any turning movement onto I.C. Roy Road and anyone coming down I.C. Roy Road will not be able to access County Road 22."
Cavacas says the town is asking for the patience and support of residents travelling within the municipality during the construction process.
