The lights have gone out in Amherstburg.
The annual River Lights Winter Festival, which opened November 17, wrapped up over the weekend.
The festival in Navy Yard Park featured light displays, a Gingerbread Warming House and Holiday House tours.
Manager of Tourism and Culture Anne Rota says it was a hit like every year.
"I think what River Lights for Amherstburg is, is just that quaint town, walk-able community, of course different than the beautiful Windsor lights," says Rota. "So it's a whole different feeling and aura when people come out to Amherstburg."
She also says the festival was a boost for local businesses with most of the activities centred downtown.
"Obviously the businesses do better and we've been fortunate to have new businesses come on board this year just in time for River Lights," says Rota. "So that was very very nice to see people walking around with hot chocolate or coffee checking out the shops."
Rota adds that planning for next year's event is already underway and that some changes will be presented during the town's upcoming 2019 budget deliberations.
