Cedar Island Marina in Kingsville is set to get a facelift.
The town held an open house Monday night to gather public input.
Mayor Nelson Santos says they're looking to make improvements to the marina itself as well as the area surrounding it.
The town is looking to put together a multi-year Master Plan going forward.
Santos says it's time Kingsville's hidden gem got its time in the spotlight.
"We had our first full meeting as part of this process to identify a specific revitalization and improvement plan from the marina to the beach to the residential properties around it. What can we do to make it, not just more attractive, but more functional and dealing with the number of people and popularity of the beach itself in the summer?"
He says the area has become a busy spot.
"Year in and year out boaters continue to come out to use the facility, not just the marina itself, but the area in general. We know that any investment there we have to look at operational and capital dollars that council needs to be aware of going into the future. But again, this isn't something that we can change overnight."
Santos says they've never looked at the area as a whole.
"We've never really looked at the area collectively. We've talked about, what are the needs of the marina? The residential neighbourhood surrounding it? This is an opportunity that council is looking at, with the public's support, at developing a Master Plan, a design, from the beach to the marina."
Santos adds the town will host at least two more public input sessions with a goal of having the finalized Master Plan ready to be presented to council by the end of July.
Cedar Island Marina features 50 boat well and is located off Heritage Road on Lake Erie.
