Volunteers filled the party room of a Windsor apartment building on the weekend to pack more than 100 bags for those in need.
Cheryl Bondy had the idea for a "Blessing Bags for Love Party," and nearly 40 friends showed up to pack bags in the name of charity.
"Food items, clothes, you name it, toothbrushes, toothpaste. We're going to go and hand it out probably to the Downtown Mission and on the street, Street Help," says Bondy.
She says the homeless issue is always on her mind.
"I worry about the homeless and not having food and clothing, so I decided to get a group together and we all met here. We've got probably more than 100 bags," says Bondy.
Her family has firsthand experience with homelessness, and she wants to help others get through tough times.
"I've been thinking about it for a long time. I have a son who has an addiction problem and he lived at the Downtown Mission for a couple of years. He's no longer at that mission, but I wanted to do something," Bondy says. "I'm just passionate about Windsor and the people."
Bondy and her crew hope to make Blessing Bags for Love a regular event.
