The 2020 edition of Open Streets Windsor may be a casualty of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Thousands of people have enjoyed eight kilometres of closed streets over the past three years, but a report going before council Monday recommends the city cancel this year's event.
The Special Events Resource Team (SERT) reviewed plans to alter the route and modify activities, but couldn't find a scenario that would keep the event within the 100 person limit on public gatherings.
It would also be a challenge to gather hundreds of volunteers needed to run the event, according to the report.
Just over $111,000 is budgeted for the event that is supposed to run on Sept. 20.
