The report was done by the federal and BC privacy commissioners
Privacy concerns are being raised over privacy issues on Facebook.
In a joint report by the federal and BC privacy commissioner, it found major shortcomings in Facebook's privacy safeguards.
It concluded Facebook allowed unauthorized access to information of millions of its users, including 600,000 Canadians.
Some of the data was then used for political purposes.
It found Facebook allowed an outside organization to use an app known as 'This is Your Digital Life' that collected personal information from users .
The app asked users to fill out a personality quiz, therefore collecting more information about the user and their Facebook friends.
