Renovations are underway at the Vollmer Centre in LaSalle.
Director of Culture and Recreation Julie Columbus says the town is making enhancements to the fitness centre, adding extra storage space along with new office space.
"We're looking to expand some of the areas for work space and storage," says Columbus. "We're going to add two storage areas under rink A stands. We're also looking to improve some efficiencies upstairs, opening up the area between the fitness room and the equipment room, so that's easier accessible for patrons and members."
She says construction crews will be on site from 8am until 4:30pm, Monday to Friday until the end of February.
"In the end, the impacts will have probably minor setbacks for some of the fitness classes, probably the fitness area will take the biggest hit from the renovations but we're doing our best with staff to sort of monitor and re-arrange some scheduling so that we can accommodate," says Columbus.
The cost of the renovations is roughly $70,000.
