The provincial Liberals officially have a candidate in Windsor-Tecumseh.
Remy Boulbol was acclaimed to the position at a party nomination meeting Thursday night.
Boulbol has been a long-time community advocate most recently serving as the Director of Development and Community Engagement at the Welcome Centre Shelter for Women.
She says her community engagement is what puts her ahead of the other candidates.
"I have spent my whole career as an advocate for human beings. That is the work that I know how to do and know how to do inside and out. There is a very natural progression from that kind of community based work to politics and you can see the very direct impact that provincial politics, especially, has on those groups and on those communities."
Boulbol says she's confident she can beat the NDP's Percy Hatfield who has held the riding since a by-election in 2013.
"We desperately need to make sure that this region is represented. We've been under represented for too long. Enough is enough right? I'm not having that, I don't want that for my kids, I don't want it for me and I surely don't want it for anyone else in Windsor-Tecumseh. So, as hard as I'm willing to fight for that for my family, I will fight for that for the 84,000 voters in Windsor-Tecumseh."

She says, with the provincial Liberals polling down, she's got her work cut out.
"Are there going to be some difficulties? Absolutely, but I believe so strongly and I've seen first hand how the investments that this government has made, especially in this region and across this province, have actually helped people and I will fight until my last to make sure that that is accessible to any human being who needs it."
Boulbol was awarded the Queen's Diamond Jubilee Medal in 2012 when she was the executive director of Windsor’s Rose City Islamic Centre.
She'll take on incumbent Percy Hatfield and Conservative candidate Mohammad Latif in the upcoming provincial election slated for June 7.
